This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!
I'm currently working on the second Path mini-book, Absolution, which I hope to have ready in time for con season next year. As part of this book, I want to have several different interior artists. While I'm still a ways off from that segment of things, I wanted to get started with a quick survey.
PLEASE NOTE... I'm not actually asking for any work to be done or anything. All I'm doing is posting a survey so I can get an idea of what I can/should offer to artists who might appear in the book. I'd be very grateful if you took a few minutes to answer this. Thanks!
1) How much would you charge for a black and white illustration to appear in a small print run(100-200 total, maximum) book? Would you prefer a set amount, a percentage of sales or a combination(you have a guarantee, plus a percentage if sales exceed a certain amount)? 2) How many contributor copies do you think would be fair? 3) Would either of the amounts above change if you retained all rights to the artwork(selling the original or prints), save the book publication and possible promotional use? 4) Would the size of advertisement for your website and/or personal projects play any role in your decision? 5) If the publisher operated print sales on site for your contributed pieces(i.e., prints are for sale on the web site, with money going directly to the artist's PayPal account), would you be interested in taking part? 6) Would you prefer an assigned scene or concept, or would you like freedom to choose what you drew?
Anything else you'd care to add... suggestions, further questions, etc., please feel free to add. This is still very much a work in progress, so anything helps. I'm planning on doing a second survey for the book itself down the line, as I really want to do as much homework as I can before I begin in earnest. (Right now, I'm just working on the story itself, and not so much the printed form).
Thank you! I feel like I'm getting better all the time, though I still have work to do in terms of my photos.
I really didn't know, until we'd moved back here, that our zoo had red pandas, so that was a nice surprise. I just love spending time around them... it's like natural stress relief.

"It is poison-rank poison to knuckle down to care and hardships. They must come to us all, albeit in different shapes--and we may not escape them--it is not possible--but we may swindle them out of half of their puissance with a stiff upper lip." - Twain
Thanks! I'd actually wanted to get out to the Zoo today, as I just got a new camera a few days ago, but things didn't fall together right. Hopefully next weekend... need more red panda photos.
And it's always nice to see another Zoo photographer... have you entered the Capture the Wild contest before? Competition's pretty stiff, but it's always fun to see what everyone comes up with.

If nothing else, it's fun to go to the awards ceremony and see all the other entrants. I've learned a lot from what other people have done there.
And I usually stake out the red panda enclosure for a couple of hours when I go without my fiancee, as they either run in and out really fast, or they're asleep in the trees and don't move for hours on end.

(this past zoo trip was the first time I'd ever managed to capture the red pandas, they are so fast!)
